The primary client of LPS had access to a large publicly available voter data and looked to LPS to gain an edge by being able to focus on the most important voter base, looking at both geography and underlying demographics. After going through the discovery phase, we concluded that the best path forward was to equip the client with web-based tools they needed to gain insight and qualitative information about this extensive dataset. We proposed and ultimately delivered a SaaS (Software as a Service) data analytics platform.
The dataset we worked with had more than 5 million voter records in a de-normalized format, pulled from various data sources, and provided in a variety of data formats. This presented the following challenge: how to design the database architecture, and choose appropriate "Excel-like" user interface technologies, such that any user could query the extensive dataset while still enjoying a positive user experience. In particular, we focused on keeping the response time quick. By optimizing the database architecture, providing standard datasets in a data warehouse format, using powerful 3rd party libraries, and writing custom solutions we solved the big data problem successfully.
Working with Andrei and the Source Labs team could not have been better. We came in with a concept and Andrei helped us shape it into an actual idea and then implement that idea. A great looking product was expected, but what was unexpected was Andrei's level of involvement and help in making every aspect better.
